5th Rijeka Sports Law, Policies & Diplomacy Days (14th – 19th June 2021)

From 14th to 17th June 2021, the Faculty of Law of the University of Rijeka and the newly established Sports Law, Sports Policies and Sports Diplomacy Centre, together with the most prestigious European sports association, British Association Sport&EU, organized an online international scientific conference "15th Sport&EU Conference".

There were almost 100 papers with around 300 participants, and the conference was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Republic of Croatia.

Special guests, the keynote speakers at this year's conference were Mrs. Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović (International Olympic Committee Member and former President of the Republic of Croatia), Mr. Julien Zylberstein (Chief of Governance & Stakeholder Affairs and Senior adviser of the President at UEFA), Prof. Marko Ilešič, Ph.D. (Judge at the CJEU), Prof. Vesna Tomljenović, Ph.D. (Judge at the General Court, CJEU), Prof. Michele Colucci, Ph.D. (FIFA DRC Member and Wolter Kluwer Encyclopaedia on Sports Law Editor), and Prof. Siniša Petrović, Ph.D. (University of Zagreb, Faculty of Law and CAS Arbitrator). The aim of the Conference was to present the results of research by eminent international and domestic researchers with an emphasis on opportunities as well as problems that arise in the following thematic areas:

Furthermore, the Faculty of Law of the University of Rijeka and the newly established Sports Law, Sports Policies and Sports Diplomacy Centre, after the conference organized the first edition of EU Sports Law, Policy and Diplomacy Rijeka Summer School (18th – 19th June 2021), an accredited lifelong learning program of the University of Rijeka with 4 ECTS credits. More than 90 participants from all over the world participated, and the Summer School was organized under the auspices of the European Commission representation in the Republic of Croatia.

The speakers at the Summer School are all the most famous scientists and experts in the field of sports law, sports policy and sports diplomacy: Prof. Carmen Pérez González, Ph.D. (Carlos III University, Spain and YUFE partner), Prof. Richard Parrish, Ph.D. (Edge Hill University, UK and Sport&EU Honorary Chair), Prof. Jacopo Tognon, Ph.D. (University Ca’ Foscari Italy, CAS Arbitrator), Borja García García, Ph.D. (Loughborough University, UK), David McArdle, Ph.D. (Stirling University Law School, Scotland, UK), Simon Rofe, Ph.D. (SOAS University of London, UK) and Andrea Cattaneo, Ph.D. (Edge Hill University, UK).
